Jim Everton Funeral – 6th August 2024

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of another Old Owenian ‘Legend’ James (Jim) Everton on 13th July 2024.

Jim started Dame Alice Owens School in Islington in 1947.

He played for Old Owens at Football and Cricket and it was at Cricket that he excelled. He started as a medium pace bowler before turning to leg spin in which he would take 100 wickets every season for Old Owens. He was in a small minority of bowlers that took all 10 wickets in a Club match. Jim was also a stylish opening batsman who scored many runs for Old Owens.

Jim helped to form Reepham & Salle Cricket Club in Norfolk with Peter Salisbury, after relocating to live in the area. Many a Cricket Tour was enjoyed by Old Owens Cricket Club in May of each year.

Jim’s Funeral will take place on Tuesday 6th August 2024 at GreenAcres Colney Burial Park, Watton Rd, Norwich, NR4 7TY  at 1 pm followed by a full Cricket tea at the White Institute in Salle, NR10 4SD.

If you wish to  mark Jim’s passing donations are welcome to Reepham & Salle Cricket Club that he helped to establish as follows:

Account Name: Reepham & Salle Cricket Club
Sortcode: 40-35-06
Account No. 61398660

The Old Owen’s Association offers sincere condolences to Jim’s family(Mary, Helen etc.) for their sad loss.

RIP Jim you will be sorely missed!

There is also the possibility that we might be able to getting funding for drainage works and machinery (This will be investigated).
