OLD OWENS CRICKET CLUB had a ‘Hog Roast’ on Saturday 3rd September 2011 which was sponsored by Richard Hattrell of Gilberts Accountants who are based in St. Albans.
Also featuring on the night was the ‘Juma Steel Band’ who played various tunes on their steel pans for a couple of hours. Who can forget the sight of ‘the legend that is Chris Slade’ boogying down to the music in a world of his own. The presence of the band was due to the sponsorship by Tim Lane and Abdul Rimaz from the Cricket Club.
The night was also a celebration for the Old Owens Cricket 1st XI who secured promotion to Division 3 of the Saracens Herts League earlier that day ( So congratulations to Rory Allan and the team). It was also the opportunity to bid farewell to Dan St. Clair our overseas player in the 1st XI who was returning to Trinidad on the following Monday. We would like to thank Dan for his fantastic contribution to the success of the team and everyone wishes him well for the future.
The event was a great success, enjoyed by the many who turned up on the night.
Special thanks to all the sponsors, Vincent Tanner for organising the event and John, Lynn and staff for the catering.
We look forward to the ‘Hog Roast’ in 2012.
