We have a thriving Cricket sporting calendar at Old Owen’s Association and Sports Club Limited (Old Owens Sports Ground, Coopers Lane, Northaw, Potters Bar, EN6 4NF).

The facilities for Cricket at the Old Owen’s Sports Ground consist of 2 cricket squares which are meticulously looked after by our groundsman and both are covered in adverse weather conditions. Facilities also include changing rooms newly refurbished in 2017 and a fantastic Clubhouse equipped with Bar, Lounges, TV’s and a Function Room.

The Old Owen’s Cricket Club have 3 Saturday XI’s that will play in the Saracens Herts League (www.hertsleague.co.uk) for Season 2024 in the Premiership, Div 5A and Div 10C respectively. We also have a growing Junior Section for U9/10’s and U13/15’s and 3 teams in the Herts Junior League.

Other Community Cricket Clubs hire pitches when Old Owens Teams are not in residence.

The 2023 Season in the Saracens Herts League ended with the 1st XI consolidating their position in the Premiership after being promoted the previous season. The 2nd XI challenged at the top of Division 5A before falling away near the end and the 3rd XI finished up as Champions in DIvision 11C and will be promoted to Division 10C for Season 2024. I would add that the achievement by the 3rd XI was aided by the presence of 2 different Junior players playing each week in the Team.

The League season starts at the beginning of May and finishes in early September for all teams. League fixtures consist of both limited overs and timed matches depending on the Division.

Old Owens Cricket Club will be embarking on a Tour to St. Lucia in February 2024  to celebrate their 100 year anniversary.
