OOASC Full Meeting 4th April 2018 – Minutes

Old Owen’s Association and Sports Club Limited

Minutes of Full Committee Meeting , Wednesday 04/04/18. 7.30pm

In attendance:  I.Breeze, D.Webb (treasurer,) T. Lane (chairman) K.Rowswell, A.Hunter (membership sec,) Andrew Ward. Eamonn Dempsey (guest/windows project) Sharon Martin (Association Welfare officer) Rick Martin (Grounds Manager).

Executive’s Welcome:  To Rick as new Grounds Manager and Sharon as new Welfare Officer with special responsibility for safeguarding across all sections.

Apologies: A.Davison, P.Kennedy, V.Tanner, John and Lynn Clarke.

Matters arising from previous minutes:

IB has not yet arranged Defibrillator signage. Meeting agreed that we should place signage (green usually) on the players’ notice board (near changing rooms) directing people to collect Defibrillator from behind the bar. IB to arrange.

Vandalism to goal nets and Barry Cotton memorial bench – Football nets will probably need to be replaced next year. IB is presently fixing the broken bench.

TL – Pavilion Update.

Maintenance to club has been completed – such as ladies toilets. Hand driers x 2. Electric heater in players’ corridor.

Club Windows Project:

Eamonn presented the latest fund raising figures for the windows. £2,605 has been raised so far. Some further promises should take it towards 3k.

We may need to complete the job in separate parts (e.g. Playing side, Car Park side, Changing rooms.)

TL asked for a sample window for committee to look at and thanked Eamonn for his efforts in raising these funds.

Catering and alcohol:Written Report from JLC:

                                              Bar and Food figures produced.

John reported that March had been a particularly poor month (33% down on March 2017!) with three weekends out of the five badly affected with adverse weather.

Finance:

Mrs Nicki Culhane (School Accounts Office) had produced a spread sheet of ‘aged debtors”. These are mainly football related. IB to chase as this amounts to £6857. The club balance presently stands at £26,197.88 but up to £17k of this will be needed for the Spring ground reparations.

Thanks again to Nicki and the school for their goodwill and efficiency in producing these accounts.

The Ground:

After a meeting with Bones involving Tim, Rick, and Chris Langley (grounds man) it was decided to carry out  ground repair procedures similar to last year costing up to £17k.

It has been a difficult three months for the new groundsman ,and despite support and advice from Rick, Ian and Andrew, not much improvement has been seen on the ground.

Thanks expressed to Andrew for loan and repair of equipment as well as his review of our machinery

Membership:

AH produced a written report showing that we have a total of 473 members bringing in £4,110.50.

Discussion ensued regarding why so few people join.

ZOO CLUB:

Balance is £850, of which £500 is to be donated to the windows fund.

Monthly draw for £50 prize won by Mr C.E. Law.
