OOASC Full Committee Meeting 19th January 2026 – Minutes
Minutes of the Full Committee Meeting held on Monday 19th January 2026
at 7.30 pm in the Main Hall at Old Owen’s Sports Ground.

- Sian reported that business was going well and takings between September to December 2025 was £71.5k (JLC takings for the similar period in 2024 was £68.4k).
- Sian has virtually completed all the Membership Cards for all the paid members and has contacted Jordan from Club Control to come and give a presentation of the workings of the Membership System on the Till.
- Sian advised that a new signage is required as the one we currently have is not very visible and the sign at the entrance to the Ground needs to be lit more at night as it is so dark you can barely see the entrance.
- Sian reported there is still an issue with the Ladies toilet and the drainage team has been called out twice to help with the issue.
- Sian advised that having tables, chairs and a marquee at the back of the Club where the double doors are would help separate cricket/football with private hire in the main hall and could also be used as a ‘smoking area’.
- Sian stated that it might be beneficial to give free hire rates to DAOS Staff.
- Sian outlined some ideas for social functions as follows:
EASTER WEEKEND
Tribute Night (Good Friday?) – £5 a ticket includes the first drink
Easter Family afternoon – £5 a ticket (easter egg hunt, easter bunny dress up, arts and crafts, mini disco & games)START MAY or END MAY (Bank Holiday)
Over 25’s Garage and Old School Night – Will speak to my DJ friends about doing a ‘Big’ event here with lots of different DJ’s – PAID TICKETS. If not thinking of doing a Garage BRUNCH day fully ticketed inclusive of 90 minutes bottomless prosecco with pizza, Garage music, live games etc.
FAMILY FUN DAY
Bouncy castles, BBQ, Live bands outside (a FREE ENTRY charity day raising money) pay for what you use. Stalls for (HOOK A DUCK)(SPLAT THE RAT)(TOMBOLA).
Incorporate cricket with the local Schools and also any local independent
businesses to come in and have stalls.
PRIMARY SCHOOL LEAVERS
Lots of primary school leavers parties for JULY.
- Matters arising from previous minutes 24th November 2025
- None
- Finance (RH)
- As at 31st December 2025 the total balance in the bank for HSBC & Barclays was £118.3k, 10.6k in the Owenians Alumni account, 9.8k in OOASC Bar and Catering Limited, £213k in the Bond and there was a surplus of income over expenditure of £31.1k.
- Receipt of the Football Foundation Grant (£12.3k) is still outstanding.
- The Ground
5.1 Ground (AW/IB/TL)
- IB reported that the Ground is doing Ok although there are still drainage issues. A vertidrain was done in December. Only lost one Sunday football fixture despite the weather. The fields are looking a bit tired and Pitch 3 is bad on one side however Pitch 1 is in the best condition it has ever been. IB stated that the 2 main entrances drainage channels need doing.
5.2 Water Treatment Plant (TL)
- TL received 6 quotes from various contractors ranging from 59k to £109k which was narrowed down to 2 companies, ATB and Owls Hall Environment Ltd. The meeting agreed to go with Owls Hall Environment Ltd (via Paul Gormley) for the installation of a bespoke Klargester fixed media SAF Treatment Plant at a total cost of £63.4k (inc. VAT) with a deposit of £15.7k. The project start date is mid March and should take about a week to complete. TL has asked for fencing to be put around the completed site. TL to liaise with IB on the installation of the new system. The meeting thanked TL for all the work and effort he has done on obtaining quotes etc. for the project.
- OOASC Sports Clubs
6.1 OOFC Football Section (IB/PK)
- PK reported that all 4 teams are doing Ok and all fixtures are up to date. The 1stst XI is fourth in the league and in the Qtr final of the Cup.
- AB asked as to why the Football Club changed the name from Old Owens to Owens. IB explained that by dropping ‘Old’ from the name the Football Club were hoping to attract more playing members for all the teams which they believe they have achieved. AB stated that all the previous tradition and history of having the name ‘Old’ has been lost and felt that the proposal of a name change should have been mentioned at a Association Committee meeting prior to the change.
6.2 OOCC Cricket Section (TL)
- Junior indoor nets currently take place on Mondays at Mount Grace School.
Senior indoor nets start 20th January 2026 at Chancellors School.
- Herts Saracens League fixtures have been published. The 1st XI will be playing the MCC on Thursday 9th July and we are seeking to arrange our annual match against the School on either the 7th or 8th
- Sri Lankan Cavaliers have hired pitch 1 and Rosslyn pitch 2 on Sundays. Hire for midweek matches are Lochinver School and Herts Seniors.
6.3 Affiliated Clubs (MO)
- MO stated all PBU teams are running smoothly and all matches are being played.

- The updated website is running smoothly with no issues.

10.1 Sports Hall (HN)
- HN reported that the development at the School is going well but funding is still required and any donations are most welcome. The School are seeking a deal with the ECB.
10.2 Peer to Peer Fundraising (HN)
- HN advised that the School will be running a peer-to-peer matched fundraising weekend from 6-8th March in which the School instead of asking directly for donations they are seeking recruits (individual or teams) to spread the word amongst friends, family, former classmates, colleagues etc. Every pound donated during the weekend (up to £800k) will be matched by a couple of existing donors. HN will draft a summary of the details with instructions to be sent out to the Committee members.
10.3 School Open Doors (HN)
- The School is having an ‘Open Doors’ free visit for Alumni from 10 am to 12.30 pm on Sunday 8th February.
10.4 Royal Festival Hall Concert (HN)
- The School is having a concert at the Royal Festival Hall on Tuesday 3rd March at 7 pm to celebrate its 50th anniversary at the Potters Bar site. Tickets for the event are still available.
