Football Club Name Change (AB)
The action to be followed from the discussion at the meeting on 19th January was not
included in the Minutes in that IB agreed to take the points discussed to Owens
Football Club and report back at a future OOASC Committee meeting.
The points discussed at the meeting on 19th January were as follows:
a) The Football Club name change proposal wasn’t presented to the OOASC
Committee before the change.
b) It was stated that the name change was to encourage an influx of new players by
getting rid of ‘Old’. It was pointed out that numbers for OOFC have risen and fallen
in their history regardless of the Club name and OOFC was one of the branches in
which the OOASC seeks to achieve its core aims of supplying social and sporting
opportunities for the Old Boys and Girls of the School.
c) The Football Club is not an independent body. It is an affiliated Club that has a seat
on the OOASC Committee with voting rights and receives subsidised rates for hiring
pitches and funding from the OOASC for the facilities. The Football Club would not
exist without the OOASC.
- Finance (RH)
- As at 28th February 2026 the total balance in the bank for HSBC & Barclays was £104.9k, 10.6k in the Owenians Alumni account, 0.5k in OOASC Bar and Catering Limited, £213k in the Bond and there was a surplus of income over expenditure of £26.3k.
- Receipt of the Football Foundation Grant (£12.3k) is still outstanding.
- Total cost of the Water Treatment Plant installation is £86,250. A deposit of £21,250 has been paid. RH will be looking to pay the balance from the HSBC account and a drawdown amount from the Bond.
- Monies for hiring the Football pitch is owed by Roving Reporters and Enfield (written off).
- The Ground
5.1 Ground (AW/IB/TL)
- IB reported that the Ground is doing Ok. AW to do spring renovations and the water feature will be looked at to get it up and running. Cricket preparations for the ground has started.
5.2 Water Treatment Plant (TL)
- The Water Treatment installation and works should be completed in the coming week(s) at a cost of £86,250. The ground where the plant has been installed is now flat and AW will need to reseed the area. Erecting fencing around the area is required and an enquiry will be made as to whether any grants can be obtained for erecting fencing.
- As a result of the ground being levelled there is a possibility that the cricket pitch and football pitch size can be extended.
- OOASC Sports Clubs
6.1 OOFC Football Section (IB)
